Employee Ownership On Display In Liverpool

Every year the Employee Ownership Association (EOA) holds an annual conference aiming to bring together business owners who wish to celebrate or are considering employee ownership. It also includes businesses such as RM2 that specialise in helping them turn their vision into reality.

This year’s event on 27-28 November is at the ACC Liverpool, an award-winning events centre located on the waterfront. The event is already sold out this year, and it’s looking like it’ll be the best attended EOA conference ever.

However, RM2 can help keep you up to date with all the latest news relating to employee ownership. Just sign up here to receive our blogs and updates. We’ll be reporting back from the event to ensure you don’t miss the professional insight and best practice advice from the keynote and panel speaker presentations.

What is the EOA annual conference for?

The annual conference brings together more than 700 employee ownership sector business leaders, employee owners, professional advisors and those considering some form of employee ownership for their business.

Across the two days there is a lot to learn about how employee ownership works, the range of benefits delivered, how to get it right and which businesses to work with to make it happen. It’s a great opportunity to hear about the experiences and challenges of being an EO business, which is what really matters. You need to understand what is involved and the likely benefits, else why undertake the transition?

Attendees will hear from a wealth of experts to understand how employee-owned businesses can deliver ‘good EO’ and contribute towards a healthier, more diverse, more innovative economy. They will also discover how to leverage EO to future-proof their business and build resilience.

Reporting on the evidence

The conference will also report on the EOA’s recently published People Powered Growth Report. This followed months of research into the impact employee ownership has had on those enlightened businesses that have made the move. The results are impressive and well worth reading if you need a little more evidence that you are making the right decision for your business and your employees.

The big headline is that employee-owned business (EOBs) are between 8% and 12% more productive than non-EOBs. Also, EOBs punch above their weight in the wider economy. EOBs represent only 0.1% of the UK economy, but currently drive between 1.7 and 2.1% of overall economic activity. RM2 has covered some of the report’s findings in our recent blog.

Why is RM2 exhibiting at the event?

We are exhibiting at the annual conference to celebrate our own status as an EOB, and to connect with and support other employee-owned businesses.  We’re proud to have advised over 1,500 businesses on their Employee Share Ownership Plans (ESOPs) and delivered more than 80 Employee Ownership Trusts (EOT).

Our experienced team will be on hand to explain the steps to becoming an EOT for business owners considering this exit route. We can also give guidance on the wide variety of tax-advantaged employee share plans that can be run alongside EOTs.

What if I can’t attend?

The event is already sold out this year, but keep your diary free for next year!

In the meantime, if you are only in the early stages of considering either ESOP or EOT, RM2 has lots of information and valuable insights available on our website.
