Star Refrigeration Limited, an RM2 client, has recently been chosen for inclusion in the 2009 Sunday Times list of "100 Best Companies to work for".
The Glasgow-based firm is the UK's largest independent industrial refrigeration engineering company. Star pioneers groundbreaking refrigeration technology for the benefit of customers and the environment. Their track record of award winning products and services is unrivalled.
As part of the company's remuneration strategy, the company has since 2008 offered its 250+ staff the opportunity to participate in an HM Revenue & Customs approved Share Incentive Plan (SIP). Employees are invited to purchase shares in the company worth up to £1,500 per tax year by deduction from gross salary, before tax and national insurance contributions, thus providing a substantial and immediate saving on the cost of their shares. The Plan was designed, and is now administered by The RM2 Partnership.
Participation in a SIP can serve to reinforce employee loyalty and provide a tangible sense of ownership. It is no surprise to report that the average length of employee service at Star is 8 years, and one-third of staff have been with the company for more than a decade.
We extend our congratulations to CEO John Rowell and his staff at Star Refrigeration on their listing, and wish them continued success in the future.
