What is a Non-Tax Advantaged (NTA) share option plan?
An NTA plan offers share options to employees and non-employees such as contractors, at a fixed price, with complete flexibility over who participates and on what terms. Performance conditions can be built in.
It is simple and cost-effective to set up, but carries no statutory tax advantages, so it is generally used where tax-advantaged options are exhausted or unavailable. It can be used in subsidiary companies, and works well alongside a CSOP in the UK to provide top-up awards above the CSOP limit.
