How do employees sell their shares in an EOT-owned company?

It is not usually recommended that the EOT itself purchases employees’ shares,  and there is normally no exit event in consideration by an EOT which would provide a ready market.  Instead, employees’ shares can be bought back by the company and cancelled, or they can be sold to another shareholder (or even a third party, though this might be unusual in an Employee Owned Business).    Alternatively, a separate Employee Benefit Trust can be used to create an internal market to buy and hold the shares. We can help establish and manage these trusts, especially in connection with an employee share plan, and keep an internal market functioning.
