We thought we would highlight the spectacular results that can sometimes be achieved with employee share schemes by means of a case study from our files.

A wireless payment company wanted to incentivise senior staff to build shareholder value ahead of an exit.

In 2006 we implemented a tax-efficient share option scheme for them, the Enterprise Management Incentive (EMI) at an exercise price of £6.15 per share. The company was sold earlier this year for £117 per share.

Several employees made six figure gains and 2 employees became instant millionaires.

At RM2 we work with clients to design and implement the most appropriate scheme to suit their objectives. Once the scheme is in place we run the administration and stay in contact with the client through to their exit event whether that be a trade sale or flotation.
